It takes place this year on June 21st with animal welfare activists already lining up against it in large numbers. PETA attempted to stop the festival last year but the only difference was they slaughtered the dogs behind closed doors instead of in public..A group of Chinese dog lovers led by Chinese action artist Pian Shan Kong came to a dog meat market in YULIN CITY IN CHINA ( Festival of Dog Eating ) of Guangxi campaigning against eating dog.The cruelty behind the dog meat trade is now, thanks to social media and awarenss, known worldwide. You only need to type into a search engine 'dog meat china' to find horrific stories of dogs being beaten, electrocuted, burnt and skinned, often whilst still alive and conscious. The conditions the dogs are kept are beyond cruel and they lead miserable lives whilst awaiting their terrifying end.
"When food is scarce, dogs are eaten as an emergency food source around China in a practice which is seen as socially acceptable.
As the country becomes more affluent, a growing number of families are buying dogs as pets fuelling the growing campaign against animal cruelty."
It is time to stand up and show our support to campaigners and organisations that are attempting to put an end to this brutal festival, and in turn stop the eating of dog meat all together.
