OBJECTIVE
To appeal to the government of Jamaica to take action regarding the humane treatment of animals.
DECLARATON
By signing this petition, we are calling for the Government of Jamaica's elected officials to address a vital public policy issue regarding animal control in the country of Jamaica.
We hereby declare that Jamaica is failing its protection and care of animals that reside in the country. We are deeply concerned and horrified by the suffering of animals that we see every day. We are petitioning the government to change the status quo of allowing animals to suffer and die needlessly.
We want the government to manage the care of animals in a humane, non-deadly manner, by developing, implementing and enforcing a full-scale animal control program.
To date, the Government of Jamaica has been relying on non-profit organizations to handle what is a government responsibility. This does not only concern animals, but the safety and welfare of Jamaican citizens, businesses and tourism.
ACTION
We are requesting a public meeting with government officials to listen to concerns and to create a committee consisting of community and government members who will be tasked with devising a plan to address the humane treatment of animals in Jamaica. We humbly await your response.
