After so many efforts to save animals from research, testing and school studies, they sadly continue to face abuse and cruel in such practices. This is disturbingly true at the Bay State University where pigs are being used as part of the school curriculum. The Bay State Medical Center is scheduled to use pigs in their trauma training courses where students will learn to insert tubes in the animal’s chest cavities and hearts. The school chose to use pigs in their Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) courses rather than opting for non-animal training methods. Not only is the use of animals abusive and cruel, these practices at this facility is in violation of the Animal Welfare Act.
Our efforts in this petition is to strongly urge the officials at the Bay State Medical Center to ban the use of pigs and other live animals as part of their research, medical and study methods with their students, asking them to strictly opt for non-animal methods of learning.
