Stop Illinois Legislators from rewriting the R2 Standard

Illinois House Bill 6321 (HB 6321) and its companion Senate Bill 2770 (SB 2770) are attempting to rewrite the R2 standard. This is a violation of our first amendment right to free speech and would significantly reduce the value of the standard that has been diligently developed over many years of hard work by many people.

Given that the R2 Standard is a Voluntary Consensus Standard (VCS) accredited by American National Standards Institute (ANSI) SERI, the owner of the standard, is required to “consistently adhere to a set of requirements or procedures known as the “ANSI Essential Requirements", that govern the consensus development process. These Essential Requirements include procedures and requirements necessary to change the standard.
