There are some major discrepancies between the Japanese and English versions of the Wikipedia articles about whales and the whole whaling debate. You might say that the Japanese side lacks information and/or is very biased.
English: whale
Japanese: クジラ
Where are the corresponding sections about whale biology, locomotion, senses, communication, intelligence, life-cycle, sleep, the whole section entitled "interaction with humans", conservation, captivity, etc?
English: whaling controversy
Japanese: 捕鯨問題
English: whaling
Japanese: 日本の捕鯨
I would like to raise awareness of this specific issue. Education is a powerful thing! I would like to encourage people to get their own words, messages and articles professionally translationed. I have used these guys in the past for my own translations: www.icanlocalize.com
The international anti-whaling community (that's you!) really needs to monitor & maintain these articles and provide accurate, factual information about whales and dolphins.

I have started a new petition. It only has 183 signatures on it so far: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/731/880/509/demand-that-googleyoutube-removes-this-hate-speech-video/
Why am I banned from youtube, and yet they allow this cretin to stay on there? I don't think so!
Please sign and share, it's very important to me. Thanks a million

Good news! The corresponding whale entries in wikipedia are growing... I have decided to start learning Japanese from 2020, not much I can do until then... I would like to ask a small favour: please sign & share 1 of my new petitions: https://www.thepetitionsite.com/en-gb/takeaction/918/071/039/

If direct action to stop whaling is important, education is moreso. This is one of the most cost-effective and efficient ways to educate Japanese language speakers about whales on a massive scale (long-term). It can potentially influence hundreds of thousands of Japanese people (if not millions) for generations to come.

Well, I have just spent US$100 of my own *hard-earned* money translating some of Wikipedia page about whales into Japanese. I have provided new sections on intellgence, communication, threats, conservation and whaling. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%AF%E3%82%B8%E3%83%A9
Update #15 years ago
Hmmm. 357 signatures so far. If people would like to donate a few dollars to info@lesliedeanbrown.com I can start to professionally translate a few paragraphs about whales into Japanese. I'd like to update the sections about whale intelligence, senses, communication, conservation and interaction with humans first. Also, don't forget to keep sharing this petition around! Thanks, Leslie.

Hello, I have another petition I would like you to sign. "Don't bulldoze 1000 trees for a Moruya highway bypass overdevelopment! Choose the shorter option D/E instead."

I would *really* appreciate it if you could all sign & share this new petition.
Kind regards,
