HALT PROPOSED NEW ANTI-WILDLIFE LAW IN CHINA

STOP THIS HORRIBLE NEW LAW FROM MOVING FORWARD.

A proposed amendment to China's wildlife laws would make it clearly legal for endangered animals to be bred in farms, and then slaughtered for body parts or sold alive for performances or further breeding. Additionally, the new law would allow local and provincial governments to legally approve additional commercial uses of endangered species.  

This means the black market for bear bile, tiger bone wine and other folk medicines and traditional uses of threatened and endangered species such as pangolins would receive a huge boost - and these animals would be bred and killed in larger and larger numbers.

It's estimated that China already has approximately 200 tiger farms, which translates into over 5,000 tigers shut into horrible conditions. Over 10,000 bears - mostly sun and moon bears - are currently farmed, many for bile production which keeps them in tiny cages and forced to endure the painful process of having the digestive fluid extracted via surgery or a catheter.

If this law passes, then the number of animals kept in these inhumane conditions would likely explode.

We need the world community to join together to condemn this proposal. Together we can pressure China to do more to protect endangered and threatened wildlife and put an end to this horrible law.
