Mark Cuthbert bought kittens on a website called Gumtree to use as live bait for his fighting dogs.
He "assured more than 40 pet owners on the marketplace website that their cats and kittens would be going to a good home, then had them attacked and killed by three Patterdale terriers.
"He was training the dogs for fights organised at his home," according to The Times.
How hard and black must someone's heart be to throw a helpless little kitten into the jaws of vicious, trained dogs?
This was not the dogs' fault.
It was HIS fault.
It is against domestic dogs' instincts to fight.
He made them do it.
And they suffered as a result.
Two of his animals, "called Digger and Billy, had multiple injuries, some of them recent, consistent with fighting a badger," reported the BBC.
They added: "a Scottish SPCA undercover investigator said the case was one of the most upsetting and "depraved" they had encountered.
"One video showed the three dogs attacking a domestic cat in a field as it fought for its life."
""It's clear the cat was caused horrendous suffering and many of the cats he purchased will have suffered long, torturous deaths, he said."
The worst part is, all Cuthbert got for his crimes was a slap on the wrist.
He was punished with a 10-month jail sentence, and he was banned from keeping animals for 10 years.
Why would they only ban him from having animals for ten years?!
Someone this cruel isn't going to just stop abusing animals of their own accord.
Criminals like him must be banned from ever owning animals again, for life.
That's why we're calling on the British government to take real action to prevent animal abuse, by banning convicted criminals like Mark Cuthbert from ever owning an animal again.
The Animal Welfare (Sentencing) Bill 2019-20 was presented to Parliament in February of 2020, sponsored by Chris Loder MP.
We're asking him to lead a movement in Parliament that would make this happen.
