SAVE & PRESERVE HAWAII'S AFRICAN AMERICAN 200 YEARS CULTURAL HERITAGE

  • PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT FROM AROUND THE WORLD HAVE BEEN LIVING IN THE HAWAIIAN ISLANDS FOR 200 YEARS.  THESE PEOPLE MARRIED HAWAIIAN AND PORTUGUESE. THEIR DESCENDANTS CONSIST OF HAWAII'S DIVERSE ETHNIC POPULATION. 
  • WHERE THERE IS NO VISION, THE PEOPLE PERISH.

  • TO RECOGNIZE THE RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE AND CONTRIBUTIONS OF PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT AND EDUCATE RESIDENCE/VISITOR ABOUT THIS HISTORY.
  • PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT HAVE CONTRIBUTED SIGNIFICANTLY TO ALL PHASES OF HAWAII'S DEVELOPMENT SINCE 1769.
  • THIS HISTORY IS NOT WIDELY KNOWN DUE TO A LACK OF UNDERSTANDING AND RACIAL DIVIDE.
  • RECOGNITION OF THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF PEOPLE OF AFRICAN DESCENT AND THEIR CULTURE IS IMPORTANT TO THE PROMOTION AND AWARENESS OF HAWAII'S DIVERSE AND MULTICULTURAL SOCIETY.

WE WILL PROPOSE TO THE HAWAII STATE LEGISLATURE IN 2015 "TO ESTABLISH A HAWAII COMMISSION TO PRESERVE THE CULTURAL HERITAGLE ABOUT AFRICAN DESCENT UNKNOWN HAWAIIAN HISTORY.

To Our Ohana and Friends out there, We had to push University of Hawaii at Manoa to have a person from the community of African descent to be placed on theObama Library Committee that was established under former Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw.  You cannot sit on your laurels and expected things to happen on your behalf.  The struggle is not over, although we live in the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Think of the future and your children and their children' children. Our legacy must live into eternity.  Our contributions are too numerous to count or name. YES WE CAN!...Mahalo Nui Loa for your kokua!
