PBS on Monday, September 28th for a very special presentation by Ken Burns;
"National Parks; America's Best Idea".
The narrative traces the birth of the national park idea in the mid-1800s and follows its evolution for nearly 150 years. Using archival photographs, first-person accounts of historical characters, personal memories and analysis from more than 40 interviews, and what Burns believes is the most stunning cinematography in Florentine Films' history, the series chronicles the steady addition of new parks through the stories of the people who helped create them and save them from destruction. It is simultaneously a biography of compelling characters and a biography of the American landscape.
It's important that our politicians watch this in order to help them to understand that these are special and unique places that must be protected for generations to come. Email, call or visit your local decision makers and make them aware of this program.

Our national parks and and nature preserves are being threatened on many fronts and must be protected for all time. It is vital that the biodiversity these areas support are allowed to flourish as they are the very elements in nature that sustain humans.
