Help more animals like Greta find their forever families!

Like many animals who come into our care, Greta had a rough start. When she walked through our doors, it was clear she needed medical and behavioral help to give her the best chance at finding her forever family. The San Francisco SPCA was up for the challenge!

Greta already had a long journey before making her way to us. Her health and behavior concerns made it difficult for her to find a home. She was selectively reactive toward other dogs, had three benign masses, and was mildly anemic. We successfully addressed her medical concerns and created a plan to help Greta's behavior toward other dogs to get her even closer to her forever family. Our caring volunteers gave her breaks from the shelter so she could hang out on a couch, provided extra training, and gave her plenty of additional love so she knew she wouldn't have to feel scared or territorial.

In providing this extra level of care to Greta, we found out that she loved giving and receiving kisses, was super smart, and even liked baths! We knew it was going to be a long journey for Greta, given her history, but after five months, hundreds of staff and volunteer hours, and many squeaky toys, Greta was adopted by a wonderful family!

Giving animals like Greta the second chance they deserve is what the SF SPCA is all about.
