Rhonda Reyna and her daughter Brooke have endured unspeakable trauma at the hands of a system that masquerades as a protector of victims and their children. Rhonda bravely reported the horrific abuse she and her daughter suffered at the hands of the perpetrator—the man who attempted to take her life by strangling her. Brooke witnessed her mother's life hanging by a thread, controlled by her father.

In her fight for justice, Rhonda believed she was safeguarding her daughter, trusting that a system grounded in constitutional and human rights would stand by her. Instead, she faced a relentless barrage of victim-blaming tactics, known as DARVO ("deny, attack, and reverse victim & offender"), alongside profound institutional betrayal.

San Mateo Superior Court Judge, Judge Don R. Franchi, and Rebecca Bailey, the Founder and CEO of the Transitioning Families program, and therapist appointed to their case (CASE#: 16FAM00441), turned a blind eye to overwhelming evidence of abuse. They callously ordered Brooke to undergo reunification therapy with the very man who inflicted harm on her and her only safe haven—her mother. These reunification therapies often start at tens of thousands of dollars and can escalate to hundreds of thousands. Can you see the motive here?

The victims are gaslit while perpetrators are handed tools to continue their abuse through post-separation tactics, such as coercive control and emotional manipulation, draining every financial resource available. By the time the well runs dry, the children become adults, and the damage is irreparable.

We must confront this abhorrent reality with unwavering resolve. I urge you to raise your voices and leverage your platforms to expose this issue. We must demand accountability from those in power—Judge Don R. Franchi, Rebecca Bailey, and the officers involved must be held responsible for their actions. They cannot hide behind the shield of judicial immunity when they have participated in and abetted these heinous crimes against Rhonda and Brooke, violating their constitutional and human rights and betraying the oaths they swore to uphold.
