Protect the Stewards of Our Public Lands and National Parks

Elon Musk's DOGE team has illegally fired thousands of rangers, educators, scientists, and caretakers of the National Park Service, Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Bureau of Land Management. Unless reversed, these mass firings will hurt protected lands, wildlife, and visitors.

Every day, tens of thousands of federal employees are working to safeguard our nation's national parks, monuments, forests, wildlife refuges and public lands. These dedicated professionals care for our nation's most precious natural and historic places, educate visitors and keep them safe, and protect our public lands for future generations.

But today, these stewards, like so many other critical federal employees, are under an unprecedented attack from an unelected billionaire and the Trump Administration that has enabled him.

Without these dedicated public servants, our parks and public lands will be less accessible, less safe, more prone to permanent damage, and will result in the loss of effective public land management and critical institutional knowledge. Firing thousands of employees with no notice and no reason is also cruel, leaving individuals unable to serve in the places they love without jobs, losing their paychecks and health insurance. While a judge has ruled that these stewards need to be reinstated, the Trump administration is doing all they can to push back. Your voice is needed to ensure these stewards get their jobs back.

Tell Congress that you want these public land stewards rehired immediately. Stand up for our national parks, monuments, forests, and public lands, and those who are dedicated to protecting these precious places.

To whom it may concern:

I value America's unique and precious public lands for what they mean to me, and what they protect. The staff who steward those lands make America's parks, monuments, and refuges an extraordinary and invaluable resource.

I ask that you call on Secretary of the Interior Doug Burgum and Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to stop slashing their workforce and reverse harmful staffing policies that impact land management and environmental protection.

These staff are the heartbeat of public lands, national parks, national monuments, national forests, wildlife refuges, and the health of our air, water, and communities. They are essential to the special places that millions of Americans visit every year. Those visitors drive local economies and support hundreds of thousands of jobs. From guiding hikes to backcountry rescues, trail maintenance to cleaning toilets, protecting endangered species, or helping green nature-deprived communities, staff are already being asked to do more with less. Any further cuts to staffing could forever change our national parks, public lands, and communities. The recent moves by the administration are nothing short of devastating.

In addition to leaving thousands of people without a paycheck, these layoffs will also hinder the implementation of key programs, impact visitor safety, stifle effective public land management, and result in the loss of critical institutional knowledge throughout our government.

Our communities and our economies rely on protected public lands and environmental protections. As your constituent, I want you to do everything in your power to protect the National Park Service, Forest Service and other land management, from these egregious staffing cuts.
