PA has a horrible ranking in terms of animal abuse and welfare. We have puppy mills galore in Lancaster County, the newspapers are willing to advertise them, while dogs and cats here are not often spayed and neutered, leaving stray animals running scared and hungry.
The humane society of Lancaster and Chester Counties are overloaded with these animals; most face a sure death. To continue to breed recklessly, while needy animals wait, frightened and alone, in shelters, is simply wrong. This is not a business to be proud of.
