This Fluffy Hen Was Helping Raise Endangered Birds. Then Someone Fed Her to an Alligator.

A tragic and preventable incident at an Australian wildlife park recently occurred, where a beloved chicken named Betty White was fed to an alligator by a visitor. The poor chicken was  "snatched" from her enclosure and eaten in front of horrified families. This bizarre situation highlights a profound lack of public understanding regarding safe and respectful interactions with wildlife.

Sign this petition to urge the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service to start a comprehensive public information campaign at wildlife parks to teach visitors how to safely and respectfully interact with wildlife.

Betty White, a hand-raised silkie hen, was part of an important breeding program, helping raise endangered orphaned bush stone curlew birds. Sweet Betty White's death is not just a loss of life but a setback to conservation efforts.

We need to ensure that all visitors to wildlife areas understand that these spaces are not just attractions but sanctuaries where every creature plays a pivotal role in the health of our ecosystem. Ignorance can lead to irreversible damage, and it is our collective responsibility to foster a society that acts as stewards, not threats, to wildlife.

Sign the petition to demand that the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service act swiftly to prevent more unnecessary tragedies by educating the public on how to interact with our natural world responsibly.
