Tell Trump: NO Wall!

Donald Trump signed executive orders calling for the construction of a wall on the southern border of the United States.

This plan to build the wall is based not on facts, but fiction. Trump's claim that Mexico is sending its rapists? Fiction. His remarks that most Latino/a immigrants are drug dealers? Fiction. His belief that somehow, undocumented immigration today is at a higher rate than ever before? Fiction.

The number of undocumented immigrants entering the United States has steadily declined since the turn of the century. There is no way to track these numbers exactly, but most studies estimate that in 2016, less than 1/4 the number of undocumented people entered the country than in 2000. Those who are coming here should be welcomed, not stopped by a giant, expensive, taxpayer-funded wall.

American Immigration Council conducted many studies to track crime rates among immigrants, both documented and undocumented. According to a 2015 report, immigrants overall are less likely to commit crimes than native-born Americans. Trump's lies cannot be tolerated - even his claim that Mexico would pay for it is a lie, given he is already arranging for federal funds to be dedicated to its construction.

We do not want to live in a country where we are afraid of our neighbors, and that is exactly the message this wall sends. This country was founded on immigrants. They come here to better themselves and their communities.

Like most of his policies, Trump's plan to build a wall is based entirely on lies. Sign this petition now to tell Trump: we will never build a racist wall.

Bad news - a federal appeals court has just ruled that the Trump administration can use $3.6 billion for this ridiculous wall. It is more important than ever that you share the petition and keep the pressure on!

On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee approved a spending bill that included $1.6 billion of taxpayer money for a wall. We must keep the pressure on. Please share this petition so we can let the White House know that we don't want a wall and we refuse to pay for one!
