Never in the history of the world has there been more cruelty and killing than we do daily to animals. At least 160 Billion animals are slaughtered every year and the number increases annually. Most of these are used for food and financial profit. The methods of treatment and slaughter are disgraceful and vile and dishonour the dignity of both animal and man. Many abattoirs/slaughgter houses butcher animals while still alive. There have been shocking exposes in Muslim and Hindi countries.
Animals are intelligent sentient beings with feelings of fear, emotion,love, pain and joy. If we must kill and eat them then at least give them a fast and dignified ending and do not treat these living beings as mere produce with which to make money.
Let the United Nations demand that all governments in the world, irrespective of cultural or religious belief, enforce and police strict and compassionate animal welfare laws.
