Lower US College Tuition Fees

As a student, one thing that I worry about most is whether I will have enough money to pay for the college or school I want. Whether I get financial aid, scholarships, grants, money from a job, my parents to pay for my tuition and ask for help from family and friends, finding ways to get enough money for an education is difficult. Most state colleges cost $9,970 or more and depends on whether one lives in the state, dorm and board fees, and how many years they plan to attend. These requirements can raise college costs up to $33,000. Also, Despite all the efforts my parents go through to get money, it is sometimes not enough.

One thing that should be noted is that even though one may sign up for financial aid and scholarships, it isn't certain whether they will get the aid or not. Besides, commonsense.org states that as of 2014, California alone has around 6.2 million students having a K-12 education. This represents nearly ⅛ of the US population, and the population can slowly increase over the years, along with the number of students. All of the students in California and all the other states have to find a way to get money to continue their education after 12th grade, and this can lead to competition and other issues. The students living in a poor family, who recently moved to the US, and/or on foster care have to be considered as well.

Many people agree that having an education is crucial for finding a better job and for supporting yourself and your family. However, all education costs money. If families are not able to pay for school and college, the dropout rate will increase.

My friends and classmates are also worried about this. We all have dreams and goals we want to accomplish, but in the end, they all cost money.

So, please sign this petition and spread the word to help all students like me continue to get a higher education and achieve our dreams. Hopefully, government officials can see this message and use more federal money to help all students, especially students from low-income or poor communities, living alone, and in foster care, pay off for college. Thank you.
