Climate scientists have warned that the consequences of rising global temperatures would bring about more extreme weather events like Hurricane Sandy. Now, we are seeing what the on-the-ground impacts of climate change look like.
In addition to the devastation that Hurricane Sandy brought to East Coast communities, the superstorm damaged crucial habitats of many coastal bird species, including piping plovers, a threatened species that depends on the shorelines affected by Sandy for breeding habitat.
Right now, President Obama has the power to implement limits on the carbon pollution that comes from coal-burning power plants, and contributes to climate-fueled extreme weather events.
Help protect crucial habitat for piping plovers by sending a message to President Obama, urging him to implement limits on carbon pollution from coal-burning power plants.
