Eugenics is No Laughing Matter

We, the thinking and well-reasoned people of the State of Louisiana, and your Friends and Supporters throughout this great Nation, condemn State Rep. John LaBruzzo for suggesting poor people, or those who use government services, should be sterilized to save taxpayer expense.  This is not a partisan issue.  It is a matter of morality, and state pride.  We ask that you stand united at a publically called event, and repudiate Rep. John LaBruzzo%u2019s reprehensible proposal.

It is NEVER acceptable to target one group of people for sterilization.  In his desperate, ill-conceived call to blame low-income people for a problem they did not create, John LaBruzzo has resorted to the most heinous call %u2013 a Final Solution, for sterilization. 

On radio and television shows nationally, Louisiana has been reduced to the status of laughing stock; a pitiful, backwater %u2018Island of Ignorance%u2019 because of one man%u2019s  inflammatory insertion of politics and fear, during this time of national crisis.  We know better. 

Historically in economic downturns, the poorest among us are the first and easiest to scapegoat.   But we understand the overwhelming majority of poor and low-income folks want and need only equitable access to education and/or job-training, so that they can support themselves and their families, affordable housing, and a higher minimum wage, so that they can pay for their most basic needs, such as shelter, utilities, food, clothing, and medical care.

But if Rep. LaBruzzo is given a pass on this nonsense, no doubt this idea will rear its ugly head again, if not in Louisiana (remember, Ku Klux Klan Leader David Duke proposed this same legislation only 17 years ago), then in the statehouse in some other legislature in this country.

We ask you to Stand Strong and United; Speak Loudly and Condemn State Rep. John LaBruzzo.
