Video of a horrific killing of a disoriented man (Mario Woods) by SFPD has surfaced - and has gone viral. The completely senseless killing of a man who was clearly presenting no current threat - was smugly explained away by Chief Suhr, who said - "The suspect had already shown by committing a felony aggravated assault that he was a danger to others, so he could not be allowed to move away from the scene."
Chief Suhr has come under fire before, but the official story in such shootings is typically that police "feared for their lives." Clearly that justification can not and does not apply here. But Chief Suhr still waved away outrage over the unnecessary killing, talking of a notion of the suspect's prior behavior. This is absolutely no justifiable reason to gun someone down in the street. Police do not get to be judge, jury and executioner.
The fact that Chief Suhr does not understand this most basic tenet of law enforcement; the fact that he is in control of a police force that is growing increasingly careless and violent - especially against poor persons, disabled persons, people of color; the fact that he is in charge of a department whose emails and text messages to each other reveal the utmost disregard and disdain for our community's persons of color ...
All of this demands the immediate termination of Chief Suhr from his position.

Demanding immediate repercussions for SFPD Chief Suhr and other involved officers following the senseless caught-on-camera killing of a Bayview man, Mario Woods, by SFPD on December 2, 2015. The involved officers need to be terminated and a criminal investigation opened.
