Since When Do Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann Care about Women's Health?
- da: EMILY's List
- destinatario: Republicans Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry
Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry recently squared off on Perry's use of an executive order as Governor of Texas. Bachmann, as a mother of 3 daughters, said requiring little girls to get the HPV vaccine was unacceptable. Rick Perry said he supported it because he was opposed to cancer.
What's really unacceptable is either of these candidates trying to claim the mantle of women's health. In office, they failed to fight for pre-natal care, maternity leave or insurance laws that guarantee access to contraceptives. But, they're willing to take over a GOP debate attacking each other over one vaccine.
Perry is the same politician who successfully championed anti-choice bills in Texas, including a bill mandating sonograms and other limits for women's access to care.
Not to be outdone, Bachmann has called Planned Parenthood " a criminal operation" and as a staunchly anti-choice Member of Congress she advocates for a constitutional amendment to ban abortion.
Neither of these candidates have any ground to stand on when it comes to respecting women's health or their rights. Demand an answer: Since when do Perry and Bachmann care about women's health?
What do Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann have to say about women's health care? In office, they failed to fight for pre-natal care, maternity leave or insurance laws that guarantee access to contraceptives. But, they're willing to take over a GOP debate attacking each other over one vaccine.
I join EMILY's List in asking Perry and Bachmann:
