PETITION TO THE TOWN OF OAKVILLE

This petition voices the opinion of residents and concerned citizens of Oakville who are opposed to having a Tim Hortons drive-thru restaurant replace the Beer Store at Hopedale Mall.

Our concerns include traffic, CO2 emissions from cars idling, and noise, light and air pollution, litter, odors, rodents, vermin, loitering, vandalism and the overall change to our safe, family oriented neighbourhood. Let%u2019s keep our families and homes safe.

We the residents and citizens say %u201CNO%u201D to a Tim Hortons drivethrough restaurant at Hopedale Mall.

CAUTION!!!

YOU FACE A PROBLEM%u2026.Tim Hortons wants to squeeze a drive-thru restaurant onto Rebecca St. at Hopedale Mall, replacing the Beer Store, despite the negative impact it will have on YOU! Don%u2019t think you have to worry? Think again:

LOWER PROPERTY VALUE %u2013 living near a fast food/drive-thru restaurant can lower your home%u2019s property value%u2026would you move near one?

CLOGGED TRAFFIC %u2013 Cars backed up on Rebecca St. at the lights and far beyond, lined up for a coffee, and jamming your access to Rebecca St. at any time of day:

Rebecca is 2 lanes, not made for extra traffic (see the 3rd Line/Speers Tim Hortons at rush hour %u2013 do you want that??)
Intersections jammed: 3rd Line/Rebecca, Savannah/Rebecca etc.
Side roads slowed: Sherin, Sedgwick, Willowdown, Warminster etc.

POLLUTION %u2013 How green friendly are idling cars (CO2 emissions), garbage and odors, rodents, vermin and light pollution? Imagine Tim Hortons coffee cups and wrappings littered along Rebecca St. and front/back yards of residential homes.

NOISE %u2013 Noise all through the night interrupting sleep for families, children and working parents. Sleep is a basic human right!

LOITERING %u2013 Strangers in our neighbourhood at night, and more potential for criminal activity and vandalism in the wee hours of the night. Let%u2019s keep our families and homes safe.

Our neighbourhood%u2019s quality of life is at stake. There are already 6 Tim Hortons locations near Hopedale Mall? Do we need a 7th?

Participate in our petition to stop the drive-thru by calling 905-844-1420 x224 and leaving a voice mail with your name and address. We will add it to our petition and will notify you of the upcoming Site Plan Committee Meeting.

Your support is crucial if you want to maintain your quality of life and home, so please say NO to the Tim Hortons proposal.
