Trump's Inauguration Falls on MLK Day. Pledge to Defend MLK's Dream of Unity and Equality in the Face of Trump's Division.

For folks in the United States and around the world, Martin Luther King Jr. Day has always been a day to reflect on the progress we have made towards fairness and freedom. In his relentless pursuit of equality for Black Americans during the Civil Rights Movement, Martin Luther King Jr. paved the way for so many others to peacefully demand that their voices be heard and their dignity be upheld.

This year, MLK Day falls on the second inauguration of Donald Trump, whose rhetoric of division and hate goes against everything Martin Luther King Jr. fought for.

This juxtaposition may feel ironic and cruel. But Bernice King, Martin Luther King's daughter, has a more powerful perspective: "Rather than sitting around saying what are they doing to us? This is a time for us to be stronger than ever."

Sign this petition to stand with Bernice King and pledge to continue her father's fight for justice, equality, and peace!

Trump and his friends that he has bought along the way are banking on us feeling discouraged and divided. We cannot let them win. The rights of so many people hang in the balance. The LGBTQ+ community, immigrants, the disabled, minorities, Indigenous people, and so many other marginalized groups. Reproductive rights. Voting rights. The right to protest. The right to marry who we love. Donald Trump is ushering in an administration that will chip away at the freedoms Martin Luther King Jr. began fighting for over 70 years ago.

That's why we're planning on heeding his family's words. As his son, Martin Luther King III put it, "His dream requires active participation from all of us." We will not give up at this critical moment.

That's why we're asking you to sign this petition. If we band together and raise our voices to show the Trump administration that we won't back down, he will know that we aren't quietly consenting to his tyranny.

Trump may hold the office, but the people hold the power.

Sign the petition and pledge to honor Martin Luther King Jr.'s call for peace, freedom, and equality for all on Inauguration Day!
