In the Spokane area we have had some disturbing issues concerning animal abuse & cruelty.
The pet shootings - dogs shot in their own back yards while out to potty.
Dog Blown up - A man strapped a bomb to his dog & blew him up because he didn't want him anymore.
In too many cases crulty charges are either not filed or lesser crimes are pleaded to.
Please tell Senator Smith, who is an animal lover & offered assistance, that we as a community need & want strong laws that are clear & well written in simple language that:
- will criminalize improper euthanasia
- includeds termination of healthy animals that are in private care - not in shelters/rescues or veterinary clinics
- Provides programs for criminal investigation against suspected abusers with clearly defined rules & a system in case of wrongful findings
- directly aserts laws concerning "crush" videos (for more on that please use internet search.)
- creates pathways for proper placement of animals who need rehoming
- Increases punishment for offenders
Please feel free to add a message to Senator Smith about your feelings, ideas/possible solutions, & your ideal future for coexisting with animals!
