Demand to end Animal Testing!
Animal testing is the use of non-human animals in experiments. Currently there are millions of mice, rats, rabbits, primates, cats, dogs and other animals locked inside cold laboratories. They suffer in pain and loneliness while in containment. The stress and lack of cleanliness causes some of these animals to develop neurotic behaviours such as constant spinning in circles, rocking back and forth and even pulling out their own hair . Over one hundred million animals suffer and die each year in cruel chemical, drug, food, and cosmetics tests. As well as in biology lessons, medical training exercises, and curiosity driven medical experiments conducted at schools. Mice, rats, birds and cold-blooded animals make up ninety-nine percent of animals used in experiments. These animals being tested on are not covered under the minimal protection of animal welfare act and therefore go unaccounted for. In order to make sure products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, and other consumer products are safe for human use, hundreds of thousands of animals are poisoned, blinded, and killed every year by corporations. Mice and rats are forced to inhale toxic fumes, dogs are force fed pesticides, and rabbits have corrosive chemicals rubbed onto their skin and eyes. These tests are often inaccurate and most of the time are not required by law to be performed. A portion of taxpayer’s money goes towards programs that use cruel and deadly toxicity tests as regulatory testing programs. Millions of animals suffer and die in classroom biology experiments and dissections. These things happen even though it has been repeatedly proven that there are alternate methods that will save teachers time and money. Although these cruel tests are being done there are ways to protect these animals. People can start buying cruelty free products from organizations that do not harm animals in the making of their products. Individuals can also donate to organizations that do not experiment on animals and request alternate methods to dissection and by demanding implementations to prevent these cruel acts from continuing.
