A right-wing Trump-appointed Texas judge's decision to rescind the FDA's approval of the abortion pill is a huge blow to reproductive rights in America, threatening a safe and popular way for women to self-administer abortion care in the privacy of their own homes and make abortion care possible for women in states where abortion procedures have been criminalized.
The Biden administration has appealed the ruling — but that doesn't need to be the end of the issue. Many prominent Democrats, and even one Republican, have called for the Biden team to just ignore the judge and allow the FDA to use its enforcement discretion.

"This is an FDA-approved drug...Whether you agree with its usage or not, that's not your decision. That's the FDA's decision on the efficacy, safety and usage of that particular drug," said GOP Rep. Nancy Mace in a CNN interview.
For once, she's absolutely right. It is preposterous that an extremist judge who is neither a doctor nor a scientist should be able to rule on whether or not a medicine that has been used safely for over two decades should be available to the public, and the government should not respect his illegitimate ruling.
