Save Betty the Elephant Now! She Desperately Needs Medical Attention!

A video clip of Betty an Asian elephant who's a circus performer with Carden Circus has horrified us ALL!  In the video clip taken at Garden Bros Circus in Denver, CO, Betty is shown with trunk paralysis. She drags her trunk and looks completely defeated. She is a slave, beaten up, and giving up on life! Just think how many rides has she been forced to give.



Betty 's Condition

• Trunk Paralysis (Dragging her limp trunk on the floor!)
• Joint pain ( front & back legs)
• Stiffness in her legs ( possibly arthritis / joint degeneration )
• Physical abnormalities ( posture, face , demeanour)

The owner Larry Carden is seen holding a bull hook as a constant reminder to Betty of the physical violence that can happen to her at any time. He has been cited violating Atlanta's cruelty-to-animals law when he used a bull hook on a frightened elephant, forcefully inserted in their mouth and dragged them off the stage. 

There is a new public awareness of how wild animals suffer in traveling circuses. Beyond the outright abuse, they are carted around city to city circus for their entire lives. They live in constant fear, they're crammed into small spaces, follow grueling schedules, and are heavily chained. They are forced daily to perform on demand, and are subjected to the most abusive training methods. There is no doubt that the circus life for these animals is incredibly damaging.
