18 year old are coming of age, but they are not protected from discrimination, in this case drinking. There are still guardians treat 18 year old like a child because of it. At 18 that is when teenager become legal adult. 18 year old can serve alcohol to customers, work in places that serves alcohol, bind contract, right to get married, vote, join the armed forces which is life risking job, be tried as an adult if commit a crime. 90% of the world already have legal drinking age at 18. Quebec, Manitoba and Alberta has drinking age at 18 also. Ontario's drinking age was 18 from 1971 to 1979. The average age student already graduate high school is also 18.
If young adults can serve alcohol at 18, why 18 year old cannot purchase alcohol, this seems to be strange. There are too many 18 year old travel to Quebec to purchase alcohol nowadays. If the drinking age is lower to 18 in Ontario, 18 year old does not need to go all the way to Quebec to purchase alcohol. Most 18 year old will find ways to get alcohol anyway.
