Let Musicians Play at Bethesda Terrace, Central Park!

For decades, the Bethesda Terrace has been one of the cultural centers of Central Park, in New York City.  It has been home to hundreds of talented musicians and street performers who have contributed positively to the cultural life of the park, playing their music around the fountain, as well as in the Arcade.  One of the most famous is Thoth, the Tribal Baroque Violinist, and his partner, Pink Angel. 

Just today, the Conservancy has announced that the Terrace is now a quiet zone, effectively silencing some of New York's finest performers. Tourists and locals alike flock to the Terrace, not only to admire the beautiful tiles and fantastic architectural elements, but also to enjoy the performances of the musicians, and take part a uniquely New York experience.  Some actually only come to the park to hear the musicians, to take a few minutes to rest, and enjoy the music, before going about the rest of their day.  Where else in the world can you hear a dixieland jazz band, then walk 100 feet to hear classical duets, string-influenced rock n' roll covers, a gospel choir, or some of Brooklyn's best indie bands, all performing acoustically in open air, and essentially for free?
