Disability activist & American Poet Robert M. Hensel and was first initiated back in 2000 in Oswego, New york.
Realizing the need to focus more on one's abilities and less on their disabilities, Robert M. Hensel sought to have a week designated that would bring to light the many talents and accomplishments being made by individuals with disabilities. Due to his efforts, Oswego County passed a motion that year recognizing Oct. 1-7 as Beyond Limitations week. Now 10 years later, Robert is now focusing on having this special and well deserved week recognized and proclaimed into law by Congress and President Obama on a more national level.

"Beyond Limitations" Placing one foot in front of the other, I've climbed to higher lengths. Reaching beyond my own limitations, to show my inner strength. No obstacle to hard for this warrior to overcome. I'm just a man on a mission to prove, my disability hasn't won.
