Tell your legislators to immediately stop DOGE, hold Trump and Musk Accountable
With or without Elon Musk at the helm, President Trump has allowed the so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to infiltrate nearly every part of our federal government — including key government agencies that hold sensitive data about all of us — and thereby committing the biggest data breach in U.S. history. No agency and no one's personal data are off limits in this aggressive campaign to weaponize our data against us.
They have accessed, and potentially downloaded, people's most sensitive data, like Social Security numbers and payments, citizenship status, income, personal medical information, pregnancies and births, and more. It is unknown exactly how they are using that data, but within the first month of this administration they have already targeted immigrants, trans people, people seeking access to abortion care, and many others — and these data give them everything they need to charge forward with their craven agenda. Reportedly, they're running your personal data through AI in order to justify firing federal workers and slashing social services that people across the nation depend on, including Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. They're using this data to surveil, track and ultimately deport our immigrant neighbors. Everything is on the line.
Trump and DOGE have lied about the amount of resources they've cut and what their cuts actually accomplish. Let's be clear: They are not saving taxpayers like us money. Musk got what he came for — our data and growing his personal wealth through government contracts at the expense of our privacy and essential resources for our communities.
This illegal overreach of power calls for immediate and decisive action until these attacks are halted, investigated, and Trump, Musk, and DOGE are held accountable.

Subject: Stop the illegal overreach of DOGE
Dear [Legislator title],
I am emailing to ask you to immediately intervene and stop the illegal overreach of President Trump's so-called Department of Government Efficiency. As your constituent, I am extremely concerned that my data has potentially been breached and accessed by people who are unelected and unvetted and that they're using that data to justify slashing resources that I and my loved ones depend on, like Social Security and Medicare. I am also deeply troubled by reports about DOGE using federal data to create profiles of immigrant communities, and using that data to surveil, track, and ultimately deport immigrants
I am asking you to take action to protect me and my privacy, as well as all of your constituents from this overreach.
Specifically, I call on you to:
- Investigate these unlawful actions: Congress must launch an investigation into the unlawful access and use of sensitive data by Trump, Musk, and DOGE. Congress must work to reclaim its rapidly eroding authority and investigate Musk. Even if he's leaving his dubious position in the Trump administration, Musk got what he came for. He paved the way for more government contracts for his personal businesses (while already earning $8 million a day in federal contracts) and got his hands on our personal data and that of his competitors with little to no oversight.
- Stop Business as Usual: We demand you and your colleagues must stop business as usual, because Trump and DOGE are not in the business of the people. Oppose Trump's pending nominations with every procedural mechanism available in committees and on the floor. You should also be incensed by DOGE using AI to slash the budget you created. Many of these programs that are being cut benefit your constituents. Congress holds the power of the purse, not Trump.
Please protect your constituents, our democracy, and our civil rights. Put an end to this tech-fueled overreach and hold these bad actors accountable immediately.
