A ceasefire in Gaza has been agreed, offering us a real chance to end the unimaginable suffering.
After 15 months of devastating conflict, more than 46,000 people have lost their lives and another 110,000 have been injured. Hospitals and schools in Gaza have been reduced to rubble. Families have been forced to face unbearable cold, hunger and despair. In just the past few days, 8 infants have died from the cold.
Our teams on the ground have been working tirelessly since the start of the crisis, giving everything they have to support the injured. But now, we have an opportunity to massively scale up our activities. This is our moment to act.
As well as reaching more people who have been injured, it is vital we act now to send more aid into Gaza.
Before the escalation in October 2023, an average of 500 trucks per day were bringing vital supplies. In December that was down to just 76 per day. That is nowhere near enough. Families are starving. Children are dying.
If this ceasefire holds, we have an opportunity to change that and deliver the aid that's so desperately needed. But we can't do it without your support.
