Stop Japan's Plan to Resume Antarctic Whaling

Whaling, the cruel act of hunting whales for sport, has been an ongoing controversy in the frigid waters of Japan. Thanks to animal activists, whales in the Southern Pacific Ocean have been safe from death this past year -- but if we don't act now, that can all change for the worst.

On December 1st, Japan's whaling fleet announced plans to resume "scientific whaling" in the Southern Ocean.

Activists celebrated when the International Court of Justice struck down Japan's previous "scientific whaling" program in March 2014 - but the fight is not over. Under the guise of a new program, Japan's whaling fleet plans to kill nearly 4,000 of these highly intelligent marine mammals over the next 12 years in an expanded Antarctic killing zone.

This is blatant disregard for international law. Urge President Obama to step in and challenge Japan's whaling plan, and put an end to whale hunting!

Dear Prime Minister Turnbull,

On December 1st, Japan's whaling fleet departed for the Southern Ocean to resume so-called 'scientific whaling' in the Antarctic. This is despite a ruling in March 2014 by the highest court in the world, the International Court of Justice (ICJ), that Japan's previous whaling program was illegal, and member nations of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) calling on countries to refrain from submitting new plans.

This is blatant disregard for international law. I urge you to challenge Japan's whaling plan and put an end to whale hunting.
