Wherever you visit or live in Spain, you witness tethered and neglected dogs, mostly away from populated areas but found also outside Factories and Industrial Estates. They are used as “Guard “Dogs”. It is impossible for them to act as guard dogs if they are chained up, lonely and miserable and frightened, either in a town or in the country-side. Those in the outlying areas are lucky of they see a human being once a week, are fed only occasionally and many have no shelter, access to food or clean water. These places are isolated and no one would hear if they were tangled in their chain, had overturned their water bowl or were sick. I had the trauma of finding a dog hanging on a fence. She had given birth to countless litters of puppies all her life, which either drowned in the swimming pool or were taken away to a Killing Station. I will never forget that experience as long as I live. The female dogs are NEVER sterilized and get pregnant while being tethered and often have to give birth in this atrocious fashion.
I have rescued a little chihuahua mix dog who was chained with a 20 cm chain in a garage for 8 YEARS. Defecating where she sat, and fed only if there were any left overs. She could sit and stand but could not lie on her back, Her little skeleton is twisted, She was battered occasionally and she was one of THREE chained in that garage which was exposed to up to 40ª in the summer and minus 2 in the winter. She is now10, a gutsy lady, loves everyone, and a total sweetheart.
Help me to demand an end to this cruelty of chained, lonely, abused and forgotten dogs. Spain has a terrible reputation for animal cruelty. Let us WORK TOGETHER TO PUT A STOP, FULL STOP. TO SPAIN'S CRUELTY AND BE THEIR VOICE. WE SPEAK UP FOR THE VOICELESS AND CHOICELESS – HELP ME TO HELP THEM. THANK YOU. MUCHAS GRACIAS ON BEHALF OF THE FORGOTTEN.
