Do you really want to eat food with horse meat in it? The beautiful equine creatures are not meant to be a source of food supply; in the United States, these gorgeous animals are raised as companions and pets, not for human consumption! Members of the meat industry both internationally and nationally actually want to introduce horse meat in all food supply, endangering the lives of America’s horses and human health!!!!
For their health, horses are routinely provided drugs and chemicals that jeopardize the health of a human if ingested. The substances can be very toxic or fatal to a human and none of them have been tested because horses are not meant to be eaten; they are meant to be loved and for riding pleasure.
Horses are given pharmaceutical for various reasons, many of which are labeled “not for use in animals used for food/that will be eaten by humans.” A multitude of drugs may be given to horses that are expressly prohibited by federal regulations for use in food animals.
t is nearly impossible to track veterinary treatments and medications imposed on the horses to ensure their meat is safe for human consumption. Any amount of chemicals in horse meat has potential for causing serious health issues in humans.
It has been noted that many horses have been exported to Mexico and Canada for some time now but most recently are now undergoing inspections of horse slaughter plants. I just can’t wrap my head around this and a new bill is being enforced, The Safeguard American Food Exports Safe Act, in order to put a stop to the sale and transport of horses, especially when intended for human consumption. Please write your local senators and state representatives in favor of the Safeguard American Food Exports Safe Act and demand they put a stop to endangering horses by using them for human consumption.
