Miami-Dade police officers violently choked and pinned fourteen-year-old Tremaine McMillan because of his demeanor -- he was unarmed and wasn't posing any threat.
McMillan was just feeding his puppy and playing on the beach when officers came up to him on ATVs. They said that his "roughhousing" was "unacceptable" and asked where his mother was. He was taking the officers to his mother when they jumped him. Along with McMillan, his puppy was injured as well.
McMillan was charged with resisting arrest, a felony, and disorderly conduct. This is ridiculous -- please tell Miami-Dade Police Department to drop felony charges against McMillan!
Dear Miami-Wade Police Department,
Tremaine McMillan, who is fourteen years old, was violently choked and pinned to the ground by officers from this police department because of the looks he was giving them and because he was allegedly "clenching his fists", although he was holding a puppy at the time.
McMillan, who was injured along with his dog, was then charged with resisting arrest, a felony, and disorderly conduct. All he was doing was feeding his dog and playing on the beach -- he was unarmed and wasn't actually posing any real threat. He was "roughhousing", which the officers said was "unacceptable" and asked for his mother. When he went to get her, they jumped him.
This is ridiculous. Please drop all charges against McMillan.
Thank you for your time.
