Please give Bill HB2327 a hearing
- par: Lisa Kowals
- destinataire: Rep Laurie Jinkins and the Judiciary committee
Horses and other equines are routinely administered hundreds of drugs banned by the FDA. The U.S. has no system in place to keep drugs administered to horses. Since 2014 the US has trucked 266,285 American horses across the border to be inhumanely slaughtered for human consumption abroad.
Horse meat has already been found in the global meat supply. In fact, recent studies by a major university (Chapman Univeristy) found equine DNA in meat products here in the US. Many of these animals came from or were trucked directly through the state of Washington only to return packaged for human consumption.
The people of Washington State are no longer willing to let our horses or other equines be slaughtered for human consumption. We do not want to feed meat that is contaminated with drug toxins from horse meat to our families or any others. We want our horses to not be sent to Mexico or Canada for a horrific death and then wind up on someone's dinner plate.
This is a very important public safety issue and WA state can again be a leader as in protecting it's families. We would like your support on H.B.2327 and we kindly ask that your committee give it a hearing.
