- Animal control forced my family to turn over our boxer after she allegedly bit my neighbors 13 yr old son in self defense.Demi was agitated by one of the other neighbors cats and was frightened. The boy came on private property while Demi was on her training leash ready to take a walk. He proceeded to taunt Demi after he was repeatedly warned to stay away from the agitated dog.Animal Control threatned to fine us $500 dollars a day if we did not turn Demi over.
- My family turned Demi over for quarintine and Demi was identified as a boxer mix by 3 animal control officers. We were told she would wait 10 days as manditory by county law. Two days later when I came to visit Demi we were told she was reclassified as a pit bull and was now an illegal breed and viscious dog charges were filed.
- We questioned why she was reclassified and we were told by an animal control officer that someone pointed her out. We were told her head appeared to be boxer but her body was pit bull and she is classified by her majority visual appearance.
- Our dog is like a family member and we can not conceive loosing her.
- Demi was declared a Boxer from birth by a licensed Vetrinarian.
- Demi has never attacked anyone or been at large prior to 7/19/12 because she is a house dog.
- A whole staff at the Animal Control Center declared her a Boxer breed upon arrival and after the victems family came they changed Demi's classification to pit bull terrier.
- Boxer is still listed on her cage and only one person thought she was a pit bull terrier
- The victems family has a history of dog fighting pitbulls on their private property and know people within animal control shelter that would see Demi doesnt get a fair hearing.
