The catch and kill method is the only cat management program used by the Australian Government. It is this model that has produced the unowned cat population catastrophe that we have today. It does not work.
Over $1 million dollars of tax payers money is used every year to fund a failed program. The Australian Government has now decided to 'Super Size' this model and they expect different results.
The catch and kill model for unowned cats has been successful on two small islands and caused collateral damage. Marion Island is 335 km2 and Ascension Island is 88 km2.
Australia spans 7,692,024 km2.
The only cat management model that reduces the unowned cat population is trap, neuter, return (TNR).
If you would like the Australian Government to fund a TNR program and abolish the catch and kill program, please sign the petition.
