Protection for LGBTQ Youth in Homeless Shelters in Rockford Illinois

LGBTQ+ youth make up 40% of homeless youth in the U.S. Many of them can't get the help they need because they are either rejected from or harassed in homeless shelters due to discrimination based on their sexual orientation and/or gender identity. By setting rules in place to protect LGBTQ+ youth from harassment and bullying in homeless shelters and banning homeless shelters in Rockford, Illinois from rejecting anyone based on their sexual orientation/gender identity, we will help many homeless LGBTQ+ youth get the help they need.
