A man in Romania is keeping five bears in illegal captivity. Demand that the authorities free the Fantanele bears!

Approximately five bears are living in horrible conditions in the town of Fantanele, in the west of Romania. A man keeps them locked in small cages on his property, even though it is against the law. Day after day the bears sit behind rusty bars that provide little protection against the elements.

The man does not allow anyone to access his property and the last time Asociatia Milioane de Prieteni (AMP) tried to check on the bears, the man chased them off with a shotgun.

The bears are living in miserable conditions, and the Romanian government needs to seize them as demanded by the law.

We want to give the bears a new life of freedom in a sanctuary that we help fund in Romania. In the lush sanctuary the bears can climb the high oak trees, swim in the pools and play in the grass. They get veterinary care when they need it and are fed fruit, vegetables, and other nutritious foods.
