Support Clean Water and Sanitation

Every day, nearly 6,000 people die from water-related illnesses. And at least two-thirds of those are young children. But you can help save lives by learning about the impact of clean water, and sharing that message with your friends and family.

A lack of clean water and sanitation undermines the health, survival and livelihood of entire communities. In rural Malawi, for example, there is less than 30 percent sanitation coverage, and as a result the population lives with the regular outbreaks of cholera and typhoid fever.

Pledge to learn and share the importance of clean water and sanitation for developing nations.
* 884 million people worldwide, (roughly 1 in 8) lack access to safe water, that's two and a half times the population of the U.S. * 4,000 young children are killed every day due to diarrheal diseases throughout the world, amounting to 1.5 million children each year. * 90 percent of wastewater in developing countries is discharged into rivers and streams without any treatment. * The average distance that women in developing countries walk to collect water per day is 4 miles and the average weight that women carry on their heads is approximately 44 pounds. Share this information with your friends and family so that they can learn the significance of clean water and sanitation.
