Tell the FCC to Protect the Open Internet
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is on the verge of implementing the National Broadband Plan. This plan will make broadband affordable and accessible to all Americans. But big telecommunications companies are readying their lobbyists to undermine the FCC's power to put the plan into action. We need to stop the telcos.
If the big telcos have their way, underprivileged and rural areas will not have access to affordable broadband. Broadband providers would not be held accountable for transparency, and there would be no agency with the authority to protect the open nature of the Internet or your privacy online. Finally, the FCC would be unable to ensure that broadband services are accessible for Americans with disabilities.
We have to stop the big telecommunications companies. Submit your comment today and tell the FCC you like your Internet the way it is.
I am writing to submit a comment in the matter of "Framework for Broadband Internet Service." I applaud the FCC for taking a bold step toward protecting the rights of Internet users by circulating this Notice of Inquiry. I feel strongly that the FCC should base its authority over broadband Internet services on firm legal ground in order to protect the rights of Internet users like me.

Without clear authority over broadband, the FCC will be unable to reform the Universal Service Fund to make broadband more affordable for underprivileged and rural Americans or fulfill the conditions of the National Broadband Plan created by Congress. The FCC would also not be able to require transparency from broadband providers so that consumers can be informed about the services they subscribe to.
Similarly, the FCC would be unable to establish rules over broadband providers to protect my privacy. Finally, the FCC would be unable to ensure that broadband is accessible by Americans with disabilities.
As someone who supports keeping the Internet open, protecting the rights of users and making broadband available to all, I urge the FCC to ensure that it has clear legal authority to accomplish its important broadband policy goals.
Thank you for your time.
