Establish Presidential War Powers Commission
We live in a dangerous world, but America must remain a government of laws. The Bush Administration's policies and executive orders went beyond what many of us were legally comfortable with -- and we cannot let this happen again.
That's why it's so important that we pass H.R. 104, which would establish a national commission on presidential war powers and civil liberties. This independent bipartisan commission would have members appointed by the President and by leaders of both parties in the House and Senate to investigate detention, "enhanced interrogation techniques," "ghosting", extraordinary rendition and warrantless electronic surveillance.
The bill needs more cosponsors! Urge your Representative to support legislation to create an independent commission to investigate presidential war powers and civil liberties.
