DPP, Ireland - to recognize the world seeks justice for the 'Limerick Greyhounds'

The case of the horrific finding of several Greyhounds killed and dumped in a quarry in County Limerick in early April of 2012 is due to be finally heard, over a year later, on 25th & 26th April 2013.
Within 24hrs of the grim discovery, the 'identification markings on two of the animals were still intact'enabling the Bord na gCon(Irish Greyhound Board)to identify the owners.

'According to the spokesperson for Bord na gCon...the animals were shot in the head.
Under the Welfare of Greyhounds Act, a greyhound can only be euthanised by a registered veterinary surgeon. It is understood that the owners could be prosecuted for one of a number of breaches of the Welfare of Greyhounds Act and there are possible ramifications for illegal dumping.'
This is the first case of such a degree, and hopefully the last, where protection(s) for Greyhounds, under the Welfare of Greyhounds Act(Ireland)2011, can be implemented.

We, the undersigned, call on the DPP to recognize that advocates from across the world seek the protection(s) for Greyhounds to be upheld - so that a recurrence of such horrific abuse to Greyhounds will never happen again.
