Another Black woman has been killed by the police.
Charleena Lyles was a 30-year-old mother of 4. She was pregnant when she called the police to her house in Seattle due to a potential burglary, and when they showed up Charleena was in distress and allegedly wielding a knife. Instead of de-escalating the situation, the officers shot her dead in front of her children.

Charleena had a well-documented history of mental illness, and the dispatch records prove that the police were well aware of this. Knowing her history of mental instability and the fact she was in distress from a home burglary, they should have used nonfatal options to help calm her down. Instead, they reached for their guns.
One of Charleena's children has down syndrome and requires round the clock care. Now that child is motherless, and her family is demanding justice.
