You see birds flying freely above the city of Singapore and really all over the world, all happy and curious. Thats how most people think of birds, yet, not all of them are that way. In fact, much of Singapore's bird population is kept in the tiny wire mesh hanging tweety bird cages, which is plain animal cruelty if you ask us.
We think this because birds need room to fly and be social, not locked up and stuck with no place to go. Not only small birds but big parrots and pigeons are kept in these cages wondering what has happened to their lives. In the wild, birds are social and almost always fly around with a partner, so when they are in captivity they get very lonely and stressed. Lots of times what they do when they get stressed is they try to flap their wings and fly, which unfortunately can lead to serious injury and sometimes even death.
These are only some of the reasons why we believe we should ban small bird cages in Singapore (to start out with at least 😉), please sign this petition to let the government of Singapore know why this is a big problem.
