Elon Musk continues to wreak havoc on our government, slashing important programs he knows nothing about and firing employees at will. Now he's going after Social Security, spreading lies on social media about this essential service that millions of Americans rely on, and treating it like a plaything for half-baked experiments.
Musk made completely bogus claims that millions of people over the age of 130 were receiving Social Security checks (not true) and called Social Security a "Ponzi scheme" and "the biggest fraud in the history of humanity." He's also working with Trump to make massive staffing cuts to the Social Security Administration – which will likely result in checks being delayed – or not showing up at all:
"Martin O'Malley, the former commissioner of the Social Security Administration (SSA), said Monday the recent cuts made by tech billionaire Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) at the agency could result in the "collapse" of the Social Security system "within the next 30 to 90 days."
