At least four women have come out to say that famous chef Mario Batali is just another of the recent string of powerful men behaving badly and getting away with it for a long time. Thank goodness we are in a moment where society has started to listen to victims and survivors — and ensure men like Batali will not contiue to profit for their years of sexual misconduct and abuse.
While Batali has agreed to step away from his businesses day-to-day, I want to call on Target CEO Brian Cornell to disavow Batali's behavior by vowing to stop selling his cookbooks and branded products.
Sign this petition if you want Target to publicly say that they will not sell the products of this sexual abuser.
The restaurant industry is notoriously an abusive workplace. Men often run kitchens and there is often very little recourse for when someone crosses a line. Now, one of the giants of the industry has been found out as a serial abuser. He admits it himself. Our reaction must be firm: we won't support someone who abuses their power in this way.
