"The best way to predict the future is to create it!"
We are a nation of animal lovers
It is important to note that our actions as a nation do not always align with our ethical and moral values, we are still needing to protect animals overseas
This is evident in instances where the government permits trades from countries that do not uphold the same standards of animal welfare as the UK and still fails to make us aware
Such as real feather shuttlecocks
Players are unaware of the origin of the feathers and want a new shuttle to be made to end the use of birds for this sport
Sports have a long and storied history, but it has not been without its controversies
Animals have often been caught in the crosshairs of the evolution of sports, with their by-products being used in various aspects of the games
However, it's not all doom and gloom
As sports have progressed, so too have the materials used to create the equipment
Gone are the days when a football was made from cowhide - leather
It's incredible to see how far we've come in terms of developing innovative materials that are both functional sustainable and free from cruelty
So we are urging BWF to put their resources into creating the next-generation shuttlecock and for it to be
recyclable, repairable and reusable
This action plan sets the foundation for laying out our aims and ambitions for animal welfare domestically and internationally
